Disciplines: Civil/Structural, Mechanical, Geotechnical
Keywords: Power Generation, Hydro, Hydraulics, Inspection, Assessment, Dam Safety
Status: Completed

EnFlux staff were involved in the Hunter Creek Hydroelectric Project from the prefeasibility phase (Including preliminary site investigations, hydrological assessments, energy studies, environmental analysis, and conceptual designs) and detailed design to construction support and commissioning. EnFlux Engineering performed inspections of both intake structures, main and tributary intakes, and the main and tributary penstocks to review the deterioration/damage on concrete structures, changes to the hydraulic flow paths, penstock cover and condition of apurtenances such as air vents and access hatches following flood events. In addition, EnFlux performed visual inspections at both main and tributary intakes to review the civil works and seepage through the structures and inspection letters were provided along with recommended actions to be taken as part of the plant maintenance. EnFlux also provided technical support on preparation of Safe Work procedures in confined spaces defined within the power plant.

Highlights

= Field inspections following flood events to review the conditions of intake structures and the penstocks,
= Review of changes to hydraulic paths and flow calculations,
= Seepage assessment at each intake structure and reporting, and
= Review and certification of work procedures in confined spaces defined within the power plant.
